Colchuck Lake, Aasgard Pass, Dragontail Peak

There are two ways into the Enchantments, arguably the most beautiful place in Washington: The Aasgard Pass route is a difficult, steep scramble gaining 2000' in less than a mile. This route is considered only by those willing to risk their lives. The Snow Lake approach, while not as harrowing, is still 20 miles in, with a seemingly relentless gain of 5,400 feet.

The central peak is Dragontail Peak, and in the crease to it's left is Aasgard Pass. Colchuck lake shows off it's glacial jade coloring. It was quite a hike to this lake and we were content to swim in the lake and enjoy a perfect summer day.
