Painting: Butterfly Effect (Chaos Theory)

Painting Insight:An order so embedded in life that at first it appears to be chaos. Fluctuations in the DNA sequence and, in time, the butterfly diverges from a flower petal. See the beauty of apparent randomness as that butterfly flies from the flower, flapping its wings - the ripple effect of which can cause a hurricane miles away.

Today I placed the butterflies in my reference sketch. God bless Photoshop! The shapeshifting effect is working well and I'll revisit the composition to firm up a few weak spots over the next few days. I start to go blind and lose all sense of judgement after staring at the piece for hours on end...

This new technique is working wonderfully! I love the loose brushwork to lay in the general form and colors. The composition reads more coherently when I'm not immediately bogged down in the detail work. You can see the progress of this painting as a step-by-step tutorial here.
